THE SHORT OF IT/
Nude Design Studio is a size-conscious graphic design studio now based out of Perth, Western Australia. In 2008, from an apartment in Buenos Aires, the studio was founded. Sonja Danilovic (graphic designer) and John Durey (writer and then solicitor) set clear, defined rules for the studio:
|
|
never sell out – not once, no matter how appealing or delightful the offer; compromise on only the rarest of occasions – to compromise on every occasion is, of course, to sell out; work for clients who understand the value of good design and who seek smart brands – preaching values and selling wares should properly be left to evangels and young Willie Lomans.
Now that we’re based more in reality (a vaguely familiar routine and a re-commissioned warehouse in the CBD), we’ve sold out, compromised and taken on every client that came our way. Well, not quite. |

THE LONG OF IT/
Utilising creativity, insight and inventiveness through design, in part of an ongoing brand strategy or for a one-off project, will pay dividends. Good design is about enlivening an emotion or jogging a personal experience; it's about creativity and innovation. The Cox Review of Creativity in Business (commissioned by the British government) remains the definitive guide on the value of creativity and innovation across business sectors
(WWW.HM-TREASURY.GOV.UK/COX). Sir George Cox iterated that sustained success in business increasingly depends on the ability to innovate - |

to exploit new ideas and new opportunities ahead of the competition. The ability to innovate, in turn, depends on the availability and exploitation of creative skills. Penny Egan (Executive Director of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) approached the topic far more bluntly: innovate or fail, because markets are being transformed, brands are being built and products and services are being re-designed, replaced or developed through innovation. A visible, competitive advantage is achieved by businesses that harness creativity and design.
Simple, really.
